Head and Neck Nurse Specialist (CNS)

Linda is based at the Queen's Medical Centre and supports patients under the care of Julian McGlashan and Iain McVicar. Linda worked as a ward nurse on the head and neck ward for many years before spending some time at Haywood House at Nottingham City hospital.

Joined our service in 2017 having trained in Birmingham and completing a fellowship in Glasgow. Specialist interest includes Head and Neck Oncology, maxillofacial and reconstructive surgery. Her work includes resection (removal) of cancers and reconstruction of complex defects.

Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon (QMC campus and KMH)

Joined our service in 2017. 

Laith has joint our services in 2017. He trained in one of the most prominent Head and Neck cancer units in the UK , Birmingham. He was awarded the prestigious fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh to Shanghai, “China’s largest tertiary referral centre for complex reconstruction”.
His work involves treating cancer of the Head and Neck ( face, mouth, throat, neck and salivary glands). This includes removal of the cancer and then reconstruction ( build up ) of the defect with tissues transferred from various parts of the body. His Philosophy in managing these complex diseases is to work in a team, with the patient and family being the team leaders rather than the surgeon.

Phil Hollows
Consultant Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon (QMC campus)

Joined our service in 2001. Trained in dentistry in Sheffield and medicine in Manchester. Specialist interest in head and neck cancer surgery and implant rehabilitation.
Operates on Tuesdays at QMC.

Julian McGlashan
Consultant ENT Head and Neck Surgeon (QMC campus)

Joined our service in 1996 after training at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in London. Julian treats throat, neck, salivary gland and thyroid cancers, but also has a special interest in voice and laryngeal problems. Current chair of the NUH Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Team and chair of the East Midlands Network Expert Clinical Advisory Group (ECAG) on Head & Neck cancer. Previous roles as lead clinician for Cancer Services at NUH (2004-09) and chair of the Thyroid and Endocrine Network Group(1998-2008). Honorary Consultant Assistant Professor with the University of Nottingham.
Operates on Wednesdays at QMC.

Muriel Donaldson

Qualified as a Dietitian in 1985 joining Nottingham
in 1988.

Our specialist Dietitian for Head and Neck
patients since 1990 and a member of the original MDT.

"My aim is to work with my Dietetic colleagues at City Campus to provide patients with Head and Neck Cancer and their carers, access to
nutritional support at all stages through their cancer journey, whenever they may need this. This may be in the form of modifying the texture of the food, to using nutritional supplement product to full non oral nutrition."

I am a clinical oncologist who specialises in the treatment of Head and Neck cancers using radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy. I am involved in many national trials for head and neck cancer. I lead our Cancer Treatment Late-effects programme.

I am a clinical oncologist who specialises in the treatment of Head and Neck cancers using technical radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy. I am involved in many national trials for head and neck cancer.














Speech & Language Therapy

Trained as a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne graduating in 1995. A specialist Speech and Language Therapist in ENT since 1998, in Nottingham since 2000. Along with the rest of the head and neck SLT team, she works with patients across Nottinghamshire who are affected by head and neck cancer and it's treatment, working in multidisciplinary clinics and SLT led clinics to treat swallowing, communication and voice disorders.
